Two fisted tales of Adventure featuring Scarfgirl , rebel without a clue

It Was a dark and stormy night and me and my best friend Chibimonkey were weathering a full blown hurricane in Florida in our very first apartment .

We knew it was coming , we had offers to stay elsewhere but no ! it was our first Apartment and we were gonna stick it out both out of pure stubbornness and the fact I had convinced Chibi it would be exciting .......it was

Days prior we had boarded up windown on our townhouse apartment with the help of friends and set up our crash pad in the kitchen as that was the one room in the place with no windows .

We had purchased all sorts of supplies for the coming hurricane and had read up on things to do and be aware of .....we were all ready .....for a night of terror .

It started slowly towards the eve heavy rains , strong winds which only got stronger and stronger
we had periodicly poke outside to watch the progress but when the wind and rain started stinging and it was getting hard to stand without the wind trying to push you over we headed inside

Within the hour the power went out and that mixed with our boarded up windows plunged us into total darkness , Someone Screamed ((in our defense neither of us will admit to screaming but it was likely both of us in tandem )) Chibi eventually found the tea light candles after we realized we had purchased flashlights but they were in the cars trunk .

Outside you could hear high winds , things crashing into other things , objects bending under the wind before creaking and breaking
then silence .......................

it seemed to streatch into forever and chibi tuned in her little emergency radio and it sounded like the eye was passing over us so we had a small window of relative calm before it started again ....then we heard it the sound of a door upstairs opening and closing .

Considering me and chibi were alone and downstairs this gave us a bit of pause .

well honestly alot of pause and we exchanged looks hoping that maybe it was just us hearing things .

the wind had died down and the house was silent , the light we had was dim and flickering provided as it was by small silver dollar sized tea lights

and upstairs we heard a movement the sound of something crinkling and a door opening ...

we once again gave each other "the look " and we had a silent conversation with us pointing at the other and pointing upstairs to see who would investigate .

in the end after a quick game of rock , paper , scissors I was chosen to go up first with chibi right behind me .

I grabbed a meat tenderizer ((it look like a lil metal hammer with divets on it )) chibi had a tea ligt and a broom .

I yelled upstairs letting them Know I was coming upstairs and that I had a gun and had no problem shooting them ((and by gun I meant I have a meat tenderizer and by Shoot I meant I would likely pee down my leg at the first sign of a person in the upstairs room .

no reply but the sounds upstairs stopped

me and chibi made our way upstairs chibi opened the door I jumped in with a meat tenderizer

no one

chibi pointed at the closet and we moved forward

She opened the closet door and I having thought I saw something and having my heart pounding in my throat hurled my mighty meat tenderizer like Marvels God of Thunder .

When chibi moved into the closet we both marveled at how I had killed the drywall with my meat tenderizer but no one was in the closet either

maybe we had been imaging things

then we heard it plain as day the sound of something crinkling then a door opening and closing and chibi pointed at the bathroom door which was half ajar

Theres a moment were you are so terrified of the unknown that you actually make it worse in your head but somehow you still move forward ...Im not trying to say I am super brave or super tough but
I needed to see who or what was in our apartment ((if this was a horror movie you folks would be screaming at the actors on the screen not to open the door and id be right there with you )).

I stood outside the door and kicked it open with my foot as I raced forward and ripped open the shower curtain meat tenderizer at the ready

nothing , nada , bumpkiss

The lights flickered on for a minute and me and chibi breathed a sigh of relief , then the sink cabinet door opened half way and closed and the lights went out again

((Well I will never admit to soiling myself as a grown adult the undergarmets I was wearing that night were retired and we must have had a roof leak in that same area ....yep roof leak with yellow rain water ))

me and chibi made a mad dash out of the bathroom and across the upstairs bed and caught our breath after a bit we crawled over silently

and I opened the door to the sink cabinet

It was filled with torn toilet paper and washcloths in a pile and sitting admist that pile
was a ferret and behind the Ferret was a ferret size whole leading from our cabinet to the neighbors cabinet whose townhouse butted up to ours

our neighbors pet ferret had gotten loose during the storm and had gotten into the wall and then made a nest in our cabinet .....


other then that the hurricane was uneventful
